There are so many incredible Bibles out there for kids! Here are five of our favorites.
We almost exclusively use the NIrV and we LOVE this version of the Quest Study Bible. It’s not only a kid-friendly translation (3rd grade reading level) but it answers more than 500 of the mostly commonly asked questioned about the Bible!
We also love the NLT Hands-On Bible by Tyndale House. It’s an accessible translation (6th grade reading level) and gives kids a hands-on way of experiencing the biblical story.
This became almost an instant classic for preschoolers, and we love it because every chapter points to Jesus. As with most preschool Bibles, The Jesus Storybook Bible is not a word-for-word translation, but rather a paraphrased version.
This is another stellar study Bible for kids. It’s available in NIV (8th grade reading level) or NIrV translations. There are explanatory portions sprinkled throughout, but what we really love are the devotional sections.
This paraphrased Bible reads like a comic book, which is so engaging (especially for elementary-aged boys)! In fact, when I was a KidMin Director, during the response station time, the older boys would race each other to the Bible station because there weren’t enough Action Bibles for everyone. (Maybe we needed to do a lesson on putting others first! Haha!) The Action Bible is so beautifully illustrated. It’s engaging, yet preserves all the key content. It visually captures how fascinating and colorful the Bible really is.
Choosing a translation is such a personal choice, so you’ll want to do your own homework, but these are 5 that we think are worth checking out. We’d love to hear what your favorites are! Shoot us an email or leave us comment!
